Season: March to June and September to November – early December

Duration : 8 days
Region: Shimla district (Churdhar in Chopal area) Moderate trek
Day 01: Delhi – Shimla – Dianli ( 450 kms )Overnight travel Shimla. Transfer to Sumos. Taveras for our travel to Dianli . Breakfast enroute . Reach Dianli farmhouse ( this is a farm stay in the apple orchard , in a small village Dianli) Lunch on arrival. Stay in tents and farmhouse . Rest for some time. In the evening a small briefing about the trek and survival techniques , do and don’t for the trek . An orientation walk for acclimatization is done .
Day 02: After breakfast we go for jungle walk to tone our muscles as we need to prepare our selves for the trek. Return to farmhouse for lunch. Once again we go for walk in orchard. Learn about the apple growing , we learn about the village life .
Evening free to explore the surrounding. After tea and snacks, we prepare our bags as we need to check and re- check our bags on what is to be carried for the trek.
Day 03: Early breakfast and we board our vehicle to travel to Sarain village from where we will begin our trek for Churdhar . In Sarain we our respect at Bijjat Maharaj temple and take permission for the trek . The temple is more then 600 years old and has beautiful carving in wood.
Our trek takes our though the village Sarain , apple orchards, and open grass lands at Halda Jubbar,. Enroute various plants and trees are identified. As we are walking through the sanctuary of Churdhar, which is a botanical paradise as a variety of herbs and plants are found here. We camp at Gujjar Ka Dera . After lunch we rest for sometime.
Then we learn about Survival technique ( how to identify plants that are suitable for eating ) and ( Navigation by day )
Day 04: Early breakfast and we begin our trek for Churdhar Peak. Walking through the forest we reach the temple site of Shirgul Maharaj where there is a natural Shiva Lingam and a natural bouwdi ( water spring) . After paying our respect to the deity , we carry on trekking to the peak.
On reaching the peak of Churdhar one can an all round 360 degree view and on clear days Badri Kedar ranges can also be seen. We have our lunch at the temple site and return back to our camp at Gujjar Ka Dera . Relax . As in the night today we learn about the Survival Technique (night navigation ) , (identifying suitable place to spend a night )
Day 05: After breakfast we start our trek back to Sarain Village, enroute we carry garbage bags and gloves to clean the path of plastic wrappers . Lunch at Sarain and then we travel by vehicle to Dianli. Refreshments . We freshen up as we had been out in the wilderness for three days . Today we take it easy and refresh our memories of the trip to Churdhar .
Day 06: After breakfast we go the local school where we interact with the local children and present a skit which we have prepared for them with a special message. After lunch we have a small demo on disaster management .
Evening free for fun and frolic. . A brief on the trip is discussed with prize distribution ceremony .
Day 07: Early breakfast and we travel to Shimla. Lunch enroute. Evening we explore Shimla’s Mall . After dinner we take our Volvo back to Delhi
Day 08: Early morning arrival in Delhi
