Sidz Farm (Dianli)
Fancy an out-of-the-ordinary honeymoon? If yes, then this getaway at Dianli in Himachal could be your private haven. Though the drive from Shimla is longer than what comfort dictates,( 127kms ) the flashing scenes of steep hills covered with a jigsaw of soft moss and snow, and the leggy pines towering to the skies, are more than ample compensation. One can also drive via Paonta sahib to reach here. As you drive past the bend, bypassing Nerwa (5 km), taking the steep road to Dianli, you stumble upon a fairytale house set amidst acres of thick forests, with steps of verdant lawn dotted with vibrant flowers.
Just perfect for some much-needed R&R (rest and relaxation)! Sit back in a recliner and watch the love-play of a pair of dragonflies as they dip and swoop through shards of sunlight. Lie beneath the natural canopy of pines watching the graceful eagles soar where no man can venture. If you crave some action, walk down the gradual steps of the hillside, skip across a trickling stream and explore the whispering forests of Dianli.
Clear glass framed in natural finish wood with views of the rolling hillside; green lawns dotted with patches of yellow-white lilies from which a fat bee sips busily; slate roofs, wooden floors and a glowing angeethi — that's Dianli in all its splendor.
A 49-year-old house, which has recently been renovated, is where the action is. Three bedrooms with attached baths, a sitting-cum-dining area and a kitchen is the accommodation on offer.
The charm of the farmhouse lies in the picture-perfect glimpses of the valley and forests and the woody 'feel' of the house, warmed by a simmering angeethi. The cozy ambience is quite unlike anything you have experienced before and if you're lucky, you get a chance to snuggle inside as the rain drums heavily outside
Steamed rice, pungent purana meat and some lassi is what makes dining at Dianli a special experience. Green is the color topping almost every dish at the table. The abundance of homegrown coriander and chillies has to show up somewhere! So see green, eat green but feel pink!
Breakfast is usually stuffed parathas with chilled curd. Those needing conventional eggs and toast to kick-start their day would need to specify the same at the time of booking, as the provisions have to be purchased at Nerwa. Lunch and dinner are Indian in selection with the usual lentil, vegetables, salad and rice. The traditional hospitality and care shines forth making each meal different. Chicken lovers might go hungry, as fresh supplies are not available
This holiday spot might not be crammed with activities. However, if you want a dose of living Himachal-style, then this is the place to be.
The lazy lovers should hit the gentle jungle trail with a picnic basket to explore the numerous secluded niches that the hills abound in. A leisurely lunch followed by some serious sky gazing is just what every cozy couple needs.
For the walk alcoholic, the hills are criss-crossed with options. Though the undulating terrain calls for some careful footwork, don't let that daunt you! Instead, bundle up and get going. The length and incline of each trail calls for different levels of stamina and fitness, so choose the one most suited to your comfort levels. Carry a sandwich for the in-between hunger pangs along with sinful chocolate bars to raise those flagging energy levels. Eat well when in the hills as you easily burn off the calories. An empty stomach can be disastrous, as a wobbly walker is often an injured one!
Water lovers can drive down to Lalpani (15-20 minutes) for a day by the khud, swimming in an emerald pool, or simply snoozing on sun-baked rocks If your nerves are frazzled, your back is aching, your head is pounding and you are not craving for adventure at every turn, then Dianli is where you can simply lie back and relax!
Package cost for 2 nights 3 days Rs 6500 for a couple ( includes stay and all meals and travel to Lalpani for a day. )
